It was my pleasure to give a talk about how, in Nature, organisms cope with deep uncertainty as part of their management of their own welfare in uncertain environments differently to the way humans tend to try to manage this problem. This talk draws on ideas discussed in my book 'On the Origin of Risk' but also develops some new ideas about the 'pockets of certainty' that remain even in highly uncertain situations.
The audience was the Decision Making under Deep Uncertainty Group and I really enjoyed the questions afterwards, but the recording is confined to my actual talk. See below to watch the talk which serves as a good introduction to some of the key ideas in the book.
